What NHL goalie had the most fights ever?

It's assumed Patrick Roy is a leader in this category but he's not. Youtube has somewhat jaded our perspective of history, however there was a time when not every game was on TV somewhere (as recently as 90's)-so no videotape exists of the vast majority of goalie fights, most of which took place in the 1970's to mid-80's.

Roy was assessed a total of 3 fighting majors in his NHL career; these fights are memorable mostly because they involved Patrick Roy (and video exists of all 3 ) For instance Al Smith (remember him? Most people probably don't) had a 20 year career that began in the NHL, he then jumped to WHA, then returned to the NHL again after the WHA's demise. Smith, a then-member of the Pittsburgh Penguins got in 5 fights from the beginning of the 69-70 season  to the end of the 70-71 season. He had 7 fighting majors in his NHL career (and possibly more in the WHA where he played most of the 1970's). Ron Hextall racked up a total of 5 fighting majors-including 3 regular season bouts and 2 playoff tilts, but that was fewer than another former Flyer, Doug Favell, who tallied 6 career fights. Favell moved on to Toronto when Bernie Parent came to town where he formed a goaltending platoon with Dunc Wilson. Wilson was sort of a journeyman who did 2 stints with the Leafs , 2 with the Canucks and 2 with the Rangers and accumulated 5 fighting majors in about 10 years of playing in the NHL. Gerry Cheevers, who spent much of the 1970's toiling in the WHA managed to get himself in 5 NHL scraps. His former teammate with the Bruins, Pete Peters also had 5. Gary "Suitcase" Smith-who played for "just about everybody" in the 1970's had 5. Phil Myre, who had a brief stint with the Habs until a guy named Dryden came along spent most of 70's in relative obscurity with expansion teams (mainly Atlanta) collected 4 fighting majors. Dan Bouchard, who shared netminding duties with Myre in Atlanta for a few years got in 4 fights also. A few others including Marco Baron, Mike Palmateer and Wayne Thomas had 3-which equals the career total of Ray Emery (thus far) who is currently trying to play his way back to the NHL.

The all-time NHL leader for Goalie fights gets his own paragraph because his total is that far-removed from anyone else. That dubious distinction goes to former Islander Billy Smith. Smith's generally nasty demeanor and notoriously short temper garnered him a total of 20 fighting majors -including 6 playoff fights. If Smith couldn't deal with a belligerent opponent with his stick he was always more than willing to drop the gloves and Smith fought many of the toughest guys of his era including Andre "Moose" Dupont (twice), Steve Durbano, Dave Brown, Dave "Tiger" Williams ( twice) and Dave Semenko. So..in summary, Smith had more fights against (tough) opponents named Dave (4) than Roy had career fights (3).
